The Wildlife Cameras

We recently bought two wildlife cameras. There must be so many animals living here that you just don’t see during the day. You do occasionally spot roe deer and a fox, but surely there must be wild boar and badgers too?
We’re not at all anti-wildlife — far from it — but they do cause a huge amount of damage. Mowing could get tricky if you suddenly hit a patch that’s been rooted up…

Two small streams run across the property. One flows along the edge of the woods, where wild boar have clearly made a wallow right in the water.
Just inside the forest, I found some very unusual purple flowers growing upright from the ground. Obsidentify taught me that it’s called Purple Toothwort — in French, lathrée clandestine or clandestine écailleuse. It’s a special plant that only flowers above ground and is parasitic, mainly on willow and poplar, though it can grow on other trees and shrubs too.
It doesn’t really occur in the Netherlands.

Have a lovely day,
Marjolein
